Basketball

Sporting some sweat bands prior to their game

Maddie's "boy" friend

Maddie has had a crush on AJ for a while and everyone in her class knows it.  They also have told her that AJ likes her. I think AJ told her himself.  It has been the hot topic in class for the past couple of weeks.  He had a basketball game this weekend and he asked Maddie to come and watch him.  We did not have anything going on (for a change) so I said we could.  She asked her friend Brooke to go with her.  It was so cute
Hailey and her friend Catey stopped in since their friend Izzie was there watching her little brother

AJ

We had to wait at the end of the game to say "good game!"
He was so sweet, he came over and said thank you for coming and Izzie is saying what did he say?

Crazy Hair Day

Little off my game for crazy hair/crazy hat day
Maddie went with hearts which was cute

Hailey decided to go with Crazy Hat and tied on every hat in the house

Kailtyns was a rainbow - didn't really turn out that great - but we scrounged in the craft bin at 930 the night before to make the rainbow - so it will suffice
Hailey found a visor - SO CRAZY!

Superbowl Sunday

Some snacks and hanging out

Hoops for the troops

Forgot to post this pictures but a couple of weeks ago we had hoops for the troops.  It was a service project for the basketball teams.  The teams collected items to send to the troops.  We collected over 18 bins of items we sent to the troops serving overseas.

The kids from both teams get announced and get to run through the hoop
We tried to take pictures with each of the teams and those pictures will go with some of the care packages
The gym gets decked out in red, white and blue

 Special basketballs

I made some cookies - forgot to take pics until they were already wrapped - ooppps

We had special guests speak during halftime -this is Eddies dad and basketball coach, but also Lt Col Castaneda in the Airforce
Command Sergeant Major for the State of Illinois and his daughter Catey

It was the first year we have done this and it was a great event. Its pretty cool when you see the visiting teams bringing in items to donate

New Wave team

Kaitlyn

We had to remind Papa that he left his hat here

Then she had to try on her dance costume - she has her FIRST dance recital in March
She loves to draw and drew these from a picture online

Polar Vortex

The below 50 degree polar vortex had school cancelled for 2 days and Hailey had a sleepover.  One of her friends went home, but the other stayed and decorated cupcakes

House stood up to the weather well - only sign was some frost on the windows

Skating

Hailey started this by wanting a skating rink.  I told her to ask Papa.  It was so warm for so long - it couldn't happen. When it got cold enough, Nana and Papa came over to help us start the ring.  This was Maddie's first outing on it

 She fell a lot

But kept getting up and trying again

Katilyn has the perfect little skates which have 2 blades down the side and just wrap around her boots.  It makes it easy for her to get around

Papa stopped one day to help put some more layers on

Nana got into a rousing game of checkers.  Kaitlyn said, Want to play checkers?  and then asked - How do you play checkers?
More time on the ice.  Hailey finally made it out
