RIP Molly

Molly 12/24/2001 - 3/29/2013
She was born on Christmas Eve and died on Good Friday - what a special dog

In May of last year, vets told us we had weeks with Molly, so we knew her time with us was limited.  We feel so lucky we ended up having so much time with her.  We tried to take lots of pictures and spend as much time with her as we could.

On Thursday we noticed she was not eating and was quite lethargic.  Earlier in the year she had a bout like this and ended up bouncing back to good old Molly, so we weren't sure if it was the end or just another one of those bouts.  We decided to keep an eye on her and take it from there.  Kris and I both knew we didn't want her to suffer and as soon as we thought she was done we would make the call.  On Friday, she was still not herself and we thought it might be time.  She had vomited in the house and wouldn't drink.  She wouldn't even eat the stuff Kaitlyn dropped on the floor or some peanut butter we tried to give her.  The only thing that gave me some hope was that she had jumped up on the couch and she had been so lethargic she had not done that.  Maddie cozied up with her on Friday night.  I was exhausted for some reason and went to bed at 9.  Kris woke me up at 11 to tell me Molly had passed.  I was so sad that I didn't get to say goodbye.  I spent Thursday night with her but thought she was doing better on Friday.  She was laying in the dining room and just went in her sleep.  It was as peaceful as I think it could have been.  Kris was with her in the end. She saved us from having to make the decision to do it, I guess.

Almost as heartbreaking as losing Molly was telling the girls.  Hailey sobbed and continues to do so when we look at pictures or talk about it.  That tears my heart out.  I wish I could shield her from the pain.  I am not sure if Maddie quite gets it.  She has said a couple of times, "I miss Molly."  When we went to dinner tonight, we toasted our first born - Molly.  She was a great dog and was so wonderful with the girls.   Here are some of my favorites of her...

Molly as a puppy - in the city
Molly used to love to do this on our balcony
Our watchdog keeping an eye on our brand new addition - Hailey
Molly and Hailey - there are a lot of pictures of them together
All 3 asleep on the couch

LOVE - Hailey and her black lab jammies with her favorite black lab

These 2 were such buddies - they had each other
Maddie and Molly with Hailey outside
Maddie and Kaitlyn - the front door was a common place to gather and watch the world go round
All my girls this past summer
Keeping watch over Kaitlyn - she was such a gentle giant.

Kaitlyn going in for a hug.  When I have said dog - she looks around searching the floor for Molly.
We knew it might be our last chance to get a picture with Molly so we did our family pictures in the backyard. This was the best picture we got.  Molly wasn't really cooperating.
Beautiful girl - may you be at peace and in no more pain.  We will miss you dearly.

Molly and Madison

On Friday night, I was telling Maddie that Molly wasn't feeling very good.  Maddie got sad and sat with her and said, Molly, I hope you feel better.  She laid next to her and pet her. It was extremely sweet.

Happy Birthday Papa!

We dropped in on Papa to wish him a happy birthday.  We interrupted some exciting painting that was going on.  Happy Birthday Papa!

Waiting for Daddy

Sunshine

She loved the swing outside.  Now, we just need it to get warmer than 40's.  Soon, we hope.

All about the accessories

Playing together

Yea, playing electronic devices, that is

Out to dinner

Kris was out of town and St Pius had an out to dinner night at McDonalds where the proceeds go to the school.  We usually do not go - they are SO chaotic.  As one parent put it, its a giant playdate.  We did go this week and the girls had a blast.

That's Patrick.  Hailey talks about him all the time.  After being out with his mom, I found out that he talks about her all the time too.  Hailey told me he is a boy who is a friend, but he's not her boyfriend.
Lots of the kids
Hailey happy as can be that we are there.
Maddie being carried around by Elizabeth. She is one of Hailey's friends, Elle's, older sister.

1st grade Mass

Hailey's name got picked to do a prayer of the faithful at the school's first grade mass.  A bunch of her classmates said no - they were too scared.  Hailey was not scared and in fact, was excited.  She did a great job.  I was so proud of her.

A quick video - I was at the back so you couldn't really see her, but you can hear her.

These were all the kids who participated in the mass.  Hailey is a shortie.  She was so short that only a little bit of her head could be seen.  Her teacher told her to stand on her tippy toes.

Hailey and some of the girls - Ella, Gabriella, Elle and Elisa.

Goetz dip

Yep, she loves it - her face is covered in it...

St. Pats Gathering

We opted out of the normal festivities at the Irish American Heritage Center for something a little more low key at our house.  Nana, Papa, Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Kate and half the Bleskins joined us.  Unfortunately, Aimee and Evie were missing since Evie was under the weather.

Tried to be festive - some of the decorations were thanks to Barb's gift for the girls!

 Maddie loves her some Papa.
